St. Louis, MO. — The Bearcats traveled to Saint Louis this past weekend, March 27th through the 29th to face conference opponent University of Missouri Saint Louis (UMSL). Though SBU played some great baseball they fell short losing the series 1-3. SBU scored 22 runs over the weekend, including nine in their singular victory, that came on Saturday. Their record after this weekend moving to 13-15 (7-9 GLVC) overall.
The Bearcats lost 12-13, won 9-2, then the Tritons closed out the series 4-0, and 9-1 on SBU. Though tough losses, Southwest Baptist put together several strong stretches of baseball throughout the series, highlighted by two games where the offense found its rhythm against UMSL.
The Bearcats' 12‑run opener featured great at-bats with multiple players reaching base repeatedly. SBU followed that with a convincing 9‑2 victory in game two, totaling 13 hits. Even in the tougher matchups, the Bearcats continued to compete. Players such as
Ryan Ray,
Collin McLemore, and
Cameron Dean each reached base in the low‑scoring contests.
In the 9-2 win, former GLVC player of the week
Eli Stewart recorded the win with a complete game. He went a full seven innings allowing only two runs and on six hits. His three strikeouts in the game helps him move to a perfect 3-0 record.
SBU will be back at Dodson Field April 2nd through the 4th to face the Missouri S&T Miners. The games will be at 5pm, 12pm, 2pm, and 12pm. For more information on the Baseball team and SBU Athletics, please visit
