Kansas City, Mo. – SBU men's volleyball concluded their third weekend of GLVC action Saturday afternoon with a loss to the Rockhurst Hawks, 3-0. That moves them to 8-7 (0-6 GLVC) on the season.
In their second game of the weekend, the Bearcats made big improvement competing much closer in all three sets. In set one, SBU led three separate times early before Rockhurst went on a six-point run that helped them to a 25-21 win. Set two favored the Bearcats even more early as they held an 8-4 lead before the Hawks responded with an 11-2 run winning set two 25-21. The final set belonged all to the Hawks as they clinched the victory 25-19.
Freshman
Lucas Phelan added another strong game to his young Bearcat career with a game high 17 kills averaging 6.3 kills per set. His 17 kills came an incredible efficient rate of .382 hitting percentage.
SBU men's volleyball will return home next weekend as they host Missouri S&T in Bolivar, Missouri. Game one will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27
th in the Meyer Center.
