Bolivar, Mo. – The Southwest Baptist University women's basketball team hosted Truman State University on Breast Cancer Awareness Night, playing the Bulldogs for the second time this season. Despite leading at the end of every other quarter, SBU could not finish the final quarter with the lead, falling 62-65. This gives the Bearcats a record of 5-15 for the season and 2-12 in the GLVC.
The game was a closely contested match, featuring 17 lead changes and neither side ever pulling ahead by more than eight points. Despite SBU's loss, the Bearcats outperformed the Bulldogs in field goal percentage, defensive rebounds, assists, bench points, and blocks. SBU also spent much more time with the lead, outscoring Truman for 25:47 compared to Truman's 7:14 with the lead.
The best performance for the Bearcats came from junior
Kamiyah Hurd as she scored over one-third of SBU's points with 24 on the night. Hurd's performance allowed her to take the lead as SBU's top scorer so far this season. She also tallied seven rebounds and three assists to add to her season stat line. SBU's top rebounder on the night was junior

SBU returns to action on Saturday, February 7 as they take on the Cardinals of William Jewell at 1:00 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center. The Bearcats will hope to get the victory over the Cardinals for the second time this season.
