Bolivar, Mo. — On Thursday, February 26, the Southwest Baptist University (SBU) women's basketball team went up against Maryville University. The Bearcats fell 66-85, bringing their Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) record to 5-14 and their overall record to 8-17.
Going into the game, SBU knew it would be a tough battle with Maryville being one of the top teams in the GLVC. Maryville started the game strong, but the Bearcats fought hard, outscoring the Saints 34-30 in points in the paint.
Ida Lusadisu N'Gonda was a defensive anchor, securing nine rebounds and blocking two of Maryville's shots.
Tina Fakunle and
Eviyon Richardson were joint leading scorers for the Bearcats with 14 points a piece.
On Saturday, February 28, the Bearcats will play their final game of the season against McKendree University. The game will take place from the Meyer Sports Center at 1:00 p.m. SBU will be celebrating
