Bolivar, MO - The Southwest Baptist University men's basketball team hosted Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) rival Maryville University Thursday night, February 26th, defeating the Saints 94-74. The Bearcats are now 13-14 on the season and 7-12 in the GLVC.
The first half was very competitive between the Bearcats and Saints with two lead changes and four ties. Down by one point, SBU came out strong after the half to regain and put the foot on the gas. The Bearcats shot a 60% from the field, 66.67% from the 3-point line, and a 75% on the free throw line in the second half alone.
Leading the way in the electric momentum swing was Sophomore
Barron Silsby with 7 made 3-point field goals, with five of those being in the second half, and 23 total points. Junior
Zac Reedus was also a big contributing factor in the win over Maryville with 19 points followed by Freshman
Leo Gayman notching his third double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bearcats will wrap up their campaign at home on Saturday, February 28th at 3:00 PM, facing off against McKendree University who have already clenched their spot in the GLVC tournament.
