Bolivar, Mo. — This Saturday, February 28th
, Southwest Baptist University's men's basketball faced off in the Bearcat brawl against conference rival McKendree University. In the final seconds of the game it was senior
Luke Ogle who clutched the win for the Bearcats to end his career on a high note, giving SBU a 64-63 victory, ending the year at 14-14.
The game was tight until the final seconds with 14 lead changes and 10 accounts of a tied score. Down by three at half, and unable to score until two minutes into the second half, SBU clawed their way to a nailbiting win with the help of four separate 10 plus point scorers. Junior
Zac Reedus led the team with 13, followed by
Leo Gayman with 12,
Barron Silsby with 11, and Senior Night Honoree
Luke Ogle with 10. While Mckendree may have had superior numbers in most categories, SBU led the game in both 3's and 3's shooting percentage. The SBU Bearcats also held themselves to 10 turnovers while getting Mckendree to turnover the ball 15 times.
With this win SBU not only wins the unofficial GLVC Bearcat title, but improves their record against MCkendree to 6-6 and breaks a five game losing streak. SBU also honored their seniors before the game including
Jeremy Moore,
Sasha Glushkov, and the aforementioned
Luke Ogle.
