Bolivar, MO - Southwest Baptist University hosted Central Christian College on February 20th and Westminster College February 21st. SBU defeated Central Christian 3-0 Friday evening and defeated Westminster 3-0 Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats extended their win streak to five moving to 6-1 on the season.
Game 1: Continuing their hot streak, SBU beat Central Christian
25-20, 27-25, 27-25. The Bearcats were highly efficient offensively, scoring 43 kills to Central Christian's 25 as well as racking up nine blocks. Leading the way in kills was Freshmen
Lucas Phelan with 13 and
Caulin Owen with . Freshmen
Silas Riggins and
Jeremiah Crecelius led in blocks with five and three respectively.
Game 2: Coming off of a win the previous night, SBU came out strong with lots of energy looking to defeat Westminster in a rematch. It was a very competitive game with both SBU and Westminster going point-for-point, but the Bearcats were ultimately victorious with a box score of
25-21, 25-21, 25-21. Southwest Baptist hit a collective 0.386% with a total of 41 kills across all three sets.
Phelan led the team in kills with 14, followed by
Donel Sengele (12) and
Evan Strahlendorf (7). The Bearcats put up a big wall at the net, slowing Westminster's offense significantly.
Crecelius put up five blocks and
Phelan put up three, allowing the Bearcat's defense to successfully set up the offense.
