Springfield, Ill. — Southwest Baptist University's women's basketball team battled the University of Illinois Springfield on Saturday afternoon at TRAC, falling to the Prairie Stars 51-89. The loss puts the Bearcats at 5-10 for the season and 2-7 for GLVC play.
After a slow start in the first quarter, SBU fought hard against UIS, struggling to regain an overall lead but managing to outscore the Prairie Stars in the third and fourth quarters.
Kamiyah Hurd led the team in scoring with 14 points, also contributing five rebounds and one steal.
Ida Lusadisu N'Gonda and
Natalia Crooke joined Hurd as top scorers.
The Bearcats look to bounce back as they return to their home court on Thursday, January 22 to host the University of Indianapolis at 5:30 p.m.
