Springfield, Ill. – The Southwest Baptist University men's basketball team ended their trip across state lines with a 61-84 defeat at the hands of the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) Prairie Stars. The loss moves SBU to 9-8 overall on the season and 3-6 in the GLVC.
The Prairie Stars started the game hot, taking control of the game early making it difficult for SBU to gain traction. Although the Bearcats fought hard, they could not recover the lead, and UIS was able to finish the game comfortably.
Junior
Zac Reedus led the team in scoring with 15 points on the night, continuing to serve as the Bearcats' leading scorer this season by a healthy margin of 80 points. Reedus also added four rebounds, claiming the second-most rebounds in the game out of the athletes wearing purple. SBU's top rebounder in the game went to redshirt junior,
Jevin Sullivan, who had six rebounds in the game, along with his eight points and three assists.
Southwest Baptist returns home next week to take on the University of Indianapolis (8-9) on Thursday, January 22nd at 7:30pm. Two days later, they take on Lewis University (4-12) at 3:00pm. Both games will take place in the Meyer Sports Center.
