Bolivar, MO.- The SBU Women's Soccer team defeated Newman University Saturday afternoon by a final score of 2-0. Their second win against an MIAA opponent moves them to 2-0 to start out the year.
 
Addi Shuler led the Bearcats to the first goal of the game quickly within the first ten minutes. Shortly after that she played a perfect ball to her sister, Annabelle Shuler who scored the second goal for the Bearcats. The Shuler sisters put the Bearcats up 2-0 heading into halftime. Attempting a comeback, Newman scored their first goal near the end of the second half making it 2-1. However, the Bearcat defense held strong for the remainder of the game to hold on for the win.
 
The goalkeeper for the Bearcats this game was sophomore Cece Alexander. Alexander kept the Bearcats within the game making some remarkable diving saves early into the 1^st half, recording nine on the game. Defenders Emma Burton and Kenadie Limb and Midfielder Samatha Mullen all had a strong match also putting up 90 in the minutes column.
 
The Bearcats will take their undefeated season to  Pittsburg, KS to play their next game against Pittsburg State University on Wednesday, September 10 at 4:00.
