Fickle Scores First Career Collegiate Goal in Loss to Gorillas

Pittsburg, KS. — Women's Soccer freshman forward Lydia Fickle (#25) scored the first goal of her collegiate career today in Southwest Baptist University's afternoon game against Pittsburg State University.

Despite battling hard during the match, the Bearcats fell to Pittsburg State with a score of 1-5, leaving them with a record of 2-1 for the season.

Fickle, alongside forward Tamerra Gantt (# 11) and midfielder Addi Shuler (#22), led the Bearcats in offense with a combined 67% shot accuracy. Fickle, a freshman, scored her goal with just under 11 minutes left in the game.

Goalkeeper Cece Alexander (#1) fought against Pittsburg State's strong offense. Alexander made 12 saves, second highest of her career, during her full ninety minutes of play.

Defenders Jaydn Clark (#4) and Emma Burton (#23) joined Alexander in playing the full 90 minutes of the game.

Despite today's loss, the Bearcats are currently fifth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). They continue their season on Sunday, September 14th  where they open conference play with a match against Maryville University at noon.
