Women's Volleyball Falls to Tritons

Bolivar, Mo. - The Women's Volleyball Bearcats competed against the University of Missouri - St. Louis (UMSL) at home on September 27th. The Bearcats ended the night with a hardfought loss against the UMSL Tritons, bringing their overall record to 3-10.

In the first set, the Bearcats were able to prevent the Tritons from going on a large point streak. It was a close match, often going point for point, but the Bearcats came up short with a score of 19-25. In the second set, UMSL gained momentum and was able to get several points on nearly every possession, leading to a loss of 13-25 for the Bearcats. UMSL carried their energy into the third set with a six-point streak, ultimately ending the match with a Bearcat loss of 14-25.

Although the match did not go as they wished, junior Hannah Jackson had a three-kill streak in a crucial moment for her team, gaining the Bearcats points 9, 11, and 12. Jackson's kills led to a tighter battle against the UMSL Tritons. Some additional stand-out Bearcats included freshman Gabriella Dupree with eight kills overall and senior Katie Pogue with 11 assists overall, both heavy contributors for the Bearcats.

The Bearcats will have a six-day break between games, as their next match will be on Friday, October 3rd at 6pm. This game will be played in Liberty, MO. against conference opponent William Jewell.
