St. Louis, MO— SBU men's soccer continued GLVC action Sunday afternoon as they battled the Tritons from Missouri St. Louis (UMSL). The game ended with the Bearcats behind 0-1 moving to 3-4 (0-3) GLVC on the season.
At the beginning of the game, with only 3 minutes and 50 seconds on the clock,
sophomore Dylan Gorman had his first shot of the season. With even more shots on goal to follow from his fellow teammates, graduate students
Ugo Morvan,
Zinedine Cherik,
Fisher Hudak, junior
Myles Paniagua,
Derrick Londono Zapata, and sophomore
Edgar Piña Alvarez. With a total of nine shots, three on goal, none were able to score despite coming so close. Jan Henry Schäfer recorded six saves in the game.
A singular goal from UMSL occurred after a penalty kick near the end of the first half. It was just 6 and a half minutes left on the clock when Londono got to take his shot on goal. Although this game ended with the score being 0-1, the Bearcats left the field with their heads held high, knowing they had fought to the very last second.
After five straight games on the road, the Bearcats will get to return to their home pitch this upcoming weekend. Next up, the SBU men's soccer team will battle on Friday, September 26th at 1:30 PM vs. McKendree University.
