Springfield, MO. - The SBU baseball team continued their series finale against rival Drury in a Friday afternoon doubleheader loss. This brings them to 15-34 (8-23 GLVC) on the season.
Game 1: L, 3-13
Ryan McClish started on the mound for the Bearcats that featured two strong innings before the Drury University Panthers scored four in the bottom of the 3rd inning. This loss moves McClish to 5-6 on the season.
Nash Crosby and
Colin Whited closed the game out in relief.
Offensively, SBU added to the run column first, on a 1st inning
Zeke Skinner RBI single that scored
Sam Schmidt. After Drury added more runs in the 5th and 6th innings, the Bearcats were able to add two in the top of the 7th.
Reese Ruderman launched a double to right field that brought in
Hayden Prewitt and
Raydley Legito. On the base pads,
Sam Schmidt,
Tre Mungin, and
Jared Pugrad were all able to swipe a base.
Game 2: L, 6-9
The Bearcats came to the plate with an aggressive mindset early on in game two. Skinner broke the lid open again, this time by reaching on an error that moved Ruderman across home. Caden Shaver got the 2nd inning started with an RBI single that scored
Tre Mungin. Ruderman continued to make his impact felt by launching a 3-run homerun over the left field fence.
Dominic Tellez and Caden Shaver each scored, bringing the score to 5-0 in favor of SBU. Drury quickly answered with three runs of their own in the 3rd. Pushing the score to 6-3, the Bearcats added an insurance run in the 5th with a Mungin single that scored Skinner. The Panthers however responded with six runs in the bottom half, eventually making the final score 6-9.

Jaden Thacker went three innings before
Sam Peterson,
Cody Gibson (L, 0-1),
Caden Norman, and
Conner Hammonds saw time in relief.
Offensive highlights include a 3-4 game at the plate for Ruderman, two hits off the bat of Tellez, and a triple from Mungin.
SBU will close out the series and the season tomorrow against Drury at Mark Worley Field in Springfield, MO at 12 PM.
