Bolivar, MO. - The SBU baseball team opened their final home series of the 2025 campaign with a doubleheader split against the University of Illinois-Springfield Prairie Stars. After winning Game 2, they are now 15-29 (8-18 GLVC) on the season.

Game 1: L, 3-17
Offensively, SBU scored on a 2nd inning
Tre Mungin homerun, a 7th inning RBI double from
Sterling Jackson, and a 7th inning SAC fly from Mungin that scored
Lane Snow. Powered by a hot start at the plate, the Prairie Stars were able to secure the victory in Game 1.Â

Roberto Garcia started on the mound for the Bearcats and finished with the loss after going four innings, striking out six.Â

Powered by a no-hit bid, that ended in the top of the 5
th, by starting pitcher
Ryan McClish, SBU took UIS down to the wire. In the bottom of the 5th, after a sacrifice bunt from
Trey Runge that moved over
Reese Ruderman and
Sam Schmidt,
Raydley Legito singled home Ruderman for the first and only run of the ballgame.Â

In an absolute back and forth pitcher's duel, McClish stood out and finished with the win as he pitched a complete game shutout. Powered by six strikeouts and a solid defensive backing him up, McClish captured his 5th win of the season.Â

The Bearcats will wrap up the series against the Prairie Stars tomorrow with another doubleheader as they honor the 2025 seniors. Game 1 will start at 1:00 PM.
