Bolivar, MO. - The Bearcat baseball team wrapped up their final home series of the 2025 campaign with a doubleheader loss to the Prairie Stars of the University of Illinois-Springfield. They are now 15-31 (8-20) on the season with one series remaining. Coach Bradley and the SBU community were also able to honor the accomplishments, dedication, and hard work of 11 Seniors.
Game 1: L, 2-10
After a 3-run 1st inning home run, the Prairie Stars never looked back. UIS added seven more runs in the 4th and 5th innings, however the Bearcats answered with a 6th inning sacrifice fly off the bat of
Tre Mungin that scored
Jack Harris. In the 7th inning,
Dominic Tellez added his own sacrifice fly to bring in
Mel Mulholland and make the final score 2-10.
Cade Langford started on the mound, followed by relief action from
Sam Peterson and
Jake Fuller.
Game 2: L, 4-9
The Bearcats put the pressure on Illinois-Springfield early on by loading the bases in multiple innings, but just missed some timely hitting. As the game progressed, the Prairie Stars brought a nine-run lead into the bottom of the 9th before SBU gave their best comeback attempt, scoring four to end the game.
Dominic Tellez hit a bases-loaded 3-RBI triple and was then pushed across the plate by a single off the bat of
Zeke Skinner.
On the mound,
Jaden Thacker gave a solid 6 innings of work and finished with three strikeouts.
Caden Norman and
Hayden Hable came on in relief.

Next weekend, SBU will wrap up their season just down the road with a Highway-13 rivalry series against Drury University. Game 1 will be on Thursday, May 1st at 5 PM.
