Romeoville, IL - The SBU baseball team continued their series against the #15 Lewis University Flyers on Saturday with an afternoon doubleheader that resulted in two losses for the Bearcats. This brings their record to 14-27 (7-16 GLVC) for the season.

Game 1: L, 11-16
Dominic Tellez scored the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Lane Snow in the top of the 1st inning. The Flyers quickly responded with a 9-run outburst in the bottom half of the inning. Moving to the top of the 2nd, Tellez continued his impact at the plate with a 2-run double that scored
Raydley Legito and
Reese Ruderman. Lewis responded again with a 4-run bottom of the 2nd to bring the score to 13-3 in favor of the Flyers. After a bases-loaded walk that scored Legito in the top of the 6th and three more runs from the Flyers, SBU went into the top of the 7th with a 12 run deficit.Â

SBU showed tremendous fight with a 7-run top of the 7th that started with a 2-RBI single from Tellez, scoring
Justice Hinsley and
Sam Schmidt.
Zeke Skinner then brought in Tellez and Legito on a double to right center. Next,
Mel Mulholland singled in Skinner that was followed by a
Marcos Franjul 2-run HR that capped SBU's comeback attempt and made the final score 11-16.Â

Ryan McClish started on the mound and finished with the loss for the Bearcats and received relief from
Conner Hammonds,
Colin Whited, and
Jaylon McGee. Tellez highlighted the Bearcats offensively with a 4-5 (4 RBI) stat line.Â

Game 2: L, 2-21
Lewis started out hot at the plate, scoring runs in each of the first three innings. SBU earned their first run when
Hayden Prewitt scored on a single off the bat of
Dominic Tellez. Tellez stayed hot with another hit when he doubled to left center in the top of the 7th, scoring Legito.Â

Cade Langford started on the mound and finished with the loss for SBU. A team of relievers followed him to finish out the game.

The Bearcats will look to end the series off on a high note on Saturday with a 12 PM afternoon game.
