St. Louis, MO. - The SBU Baseball team began their four-game series against Maryville Friday afternoon with a 3-5 loss. This moves their record to 14-21 (7-10 GLVC).
Â
In a defensive battle the first score came from a
Jared Pugrad RBI to bring in
Raydley Legito at the top of the 2nd. Maryville tied the score at one to conclude the inning and took the lead with a run the following inning. The Bearcats defense responded with a couple strong defensive innings, getting six outs on only eight batters. The Saints slowly pulled away tacking on three more runs going into the 9th. The Bearcats made one last push to extend game time.
Raydley Legito started the push with a hit before three consecutive batters were walked for another Legito score and a
Hayden Prewitt RBI. A ground out by
Dominic Tellez was good enough to bring home Pugrad to conclude the game's scoring. Â
Â
Lane Snow and
Tre Mungin tallied a couple hits each.
Roberto Garcia also threw six strikeouts in a little over five innings of play.
Â
The Bearcats will be back in action at Weber Field tomorrow at 1pm and 4pm.
