Romeoville, IL.- The SBU Softball team fell in both games in a doubleheader against the Lewis University Flyers Saturday afternoon. This now makes them 12-18 (6-6 GLVC) for the season.

Game 1:Â L, 2-9
The Flyers were the first team to get on the board in the first inning and proceeded to go on a 5-0 run through the third.
Shalie Wooden got the Bearcats on the board in the fourth inning with her hitting an RBI bringing in two runs, which made it 2-5. In response, the Flyers came back with three more runs scored in the same inning. SBU held the Flyers for an inning however Lewis added one more run to their score from a homerun in the bottom of the sixth, which brought them to their final score of 2-9.

SBU started off the game with
Emma Kreisel pitching (3.0 innings) as she recorded the only two strikeouts for SBU and gave up zero walks.
Kylee Dewey (0.1) and
Abby Leer (2.2) also made appearances on the mound, though Kreisel recorded the loss (L, 4-9).

Game 2: L, 2-12
For game two, the Bearcats grabbed the lead in the top of the third inning, making it 2-1.
Keeley Elsea homered for the first time in her young career, followed by
Hayley Sites scoring on a wild pitch for the second run. The Flyers answered back by scoring two runs in the same inning also by a homerun and wild pitch. The Bearcats tried to battle hard, but couldn't stop the Flyers as they went on a 8-0 run in the bottom of the fourth making the score 2-12. Bearcats were unable to response, causing the game to end in the fifth.

SBU saw Wooden (3.0),
Lindsey Essary (0.0), and
Taylor Howard (1.0) all makw appearances on the mound this afternoon. While Wooden ended up recording the loss (L, 4-4) she got the only two strikeouts for SBU.

The Bearcats will stay on the road and travel to Columbia, MO. for their next non-conference series against Stephens College on Wednesday, March 26 beginning at 2:00pm.
