Pittsburg, Kan. – The Bearcat baseball team took a brief break from conference play Tuesday evening to battle MIAA Pittsburg state. SBU fell in the game moving to 10-12 (3-1 GLVC) on the season.
The Bearcats got on the board first with a grand slam from
Xie Ferguson in the first inning scoring
Tre Mungin,
Lane Snow, and
Dominic Tellez. Pitt State bounced back in the bottom half of the inning scoring five taking the lead. A 2 RBI single from Tellez and a 2-run home run from
Zeke Skinner put the Bearcats back up three. That was his third home run in five at bats continuing to extend his career record. From there the Gorillas put the game out of reach as their offense heated up.
Seven different Bearcats recorded RBI's on the game with
Justice Hinsley,
Conner Hammonds,
Trey Runge, and
Jason Pesold all recording one. Nine different Bearcats had only one hit on the game.
Southwest Baptist will return to conference play this upcoming weekend as they play host to the Upper Iowa Peacocks. Their first game will be on Friday, March 21
st at 5:00pm at Dodson Field.
