Wichita Falls, TX.- The SBU Men's Tennis team fell to the Midwestern State University Texas Mustangs, ranked 9
th in the Nation, on Tuesday 0-7. This puts them to be 5-3 for the season.
Starting off the match in the doubles action was
Marcio Silva and
Jauni Morresi for the #1 team falling to their opponent (2-6). The Bearcats bounced back with their #2 team,
Alejandro Bravo and
Bojan Radoman, defeating their opponent in two sets (6-4). However the Mustangs dominated the third match to win the doubles point as
Alejandro Beneyto Sanchez and
Federico Riolo competed as the #3 team (2-6).
The Bearcats continued to battle in the singles matches but were not successful.
Silva in the #1 spot for SBU bounced back in the second set after losing the first one, but could not finish it out in the third (2-6, 6-4, 1-0). The next two matches were both difficult two set losses for the Bearcats with
Sanchez in the #2 spot (3-6, 3-6) and
Radoman in the #3 spot (3-6, 3-6).
Bravo in the #4 spot played a very close match but fell in two tight sets (6-7, 4-6). The next match was
Morresi in the #5 spot, who came back and competed in a very close second set but couldn't finish it out losing in two (2-6, 6-7). Lastly,
Riolo in the #6 spot was defeated by his opponent in two tough sets (3-6, 3-6).
The Bearcats will stay on the road and travel to Lawton OK. to play Cameron University on Wednesday, March 12 at 1:00 pm.
