Branson, Mo. – The SBU softball team continued to dominate the Turfs Up Invitational picking up two more wins by a total of 28-run differential. This moves them to 6-6 on the season.
Game 1 vs Ecclesia: W, 20-0
Bearcats handled game one of the day with ease scoring the most runs in a single game they have scored in over 12 years. SBU scored six runs in the first two innings, then tacked on 14 in the third to give them a 20-0 victory.
The team, as a whole, recorded 14 hits, with sophomore
Angie Micone having a game high three, improving her season batting average to .611.
Shalie Wooden and
Emily Titus tacked on two more hits, with Titus knocking in three RBI's.
Audrey Rahlmann and Wooden wer the only other Bearcat to also hit in three RBI's. On the mound,
Emma Kreisel and
Kylee Dewey shared time combining for three strikeouts and a complete shutout.
Game 2 vs Mission University: W, 9-1
In the second game of the day, Mission scored the first run of the game which would be their only run with the Bearcat pitchers holding them scoreless for the last six innings. The Bearcat offense answered back quickly with a solo home run from freshman
Kinleigh Kite. She recorded three more RBI's in the game when she hit a three run home run in the seventh inning.
Kaitlyn Ragsdale and
Keeley Elsea also recorded two hits in the game, with Ragsdale scoring in two RBI's. Audrey Rahlman,
Margo Frossard, and Elsea were the only other Bearcats to record RBI's.
Southwest Baptist softball will return to action in just a couple days as they head to Kansas City for another Classic. This will be the Midwest College classic, where they will take on all MIAA teams beginning Friday, February 28
th at 1:30pm.
