Springfield, MO – The SBU Baseball team was back in action on Monday with a thrilling series opening victory against the Missouri S&T Miners, moving them to 4-3 on the young season. This was their first win over the Miners in their last 10 games played.
After the Miners got things started with one run in the top of the 1st, the Bearcats quickly knotted things back up in the bottom half on an RBI from

Dominic Tellez. SBU continued to show fight in the bottom half of the 4th, after four unanswered runs from Missouri S&T. Following a

Zeke Skinner came up clutch with a game tying two run single that scored both
Cayden Shaver and Tellez.
After the Bearcats added an insurance run in the bottom of the 5th, the Miners made things interesting tying things up at 6 in the top of the 9th. With the heart of their lineup due up in the bottom half and in prime position to send a message to a conference foe, Senior
Marcos Franjul hit a two out walk-off home run to seal the victory.
Junior
Roberto Garcia started on the mound for the Bearcats, pitching five strong innings that featured 4 strikeouts. Junior
Nash Crosby came in for relief and added another 3 strikeouts in just over two innings of work.
Sam Peterson closed out the tight contest and picked up his first win of the season.
SBU will look to carry this momentum into the rest of the series as they finish with a doubleheader on Tuesday at the Meador Park Complex in Springfield, MO. beginning at 11:00am.
