Bolivar, MO - The SBU Women's basketball team fell to the Rockhurst University Hawks Saturday afternoon by a score of 75-81, moving them to 8-14 (6-10 GLVC) on the season.
The Hawks threw the first punch, outscoring the Bearcats by 7 in the first quarter. SBU quickly answered back in the second quarter as they held Rockhurst to 11 points in the frame, putting the game well within reach. In a back and forth second half, Rockhurst eventually pulled away by shooting 41% from three.
Offensively, the Bearcats were led by a season high of 20 points from Senior
Sierra Jones. Senior
Tori Hamilton finished with her 6th 15+ point game of the season and added 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. It only took one block for Hamilton to set the SBU career record, with her predecessor Alicia (Mercer) Wollard in attendance. Hamilton now holds the record on her own sitting at 128. Other key offensive contributions came from
LJ Boyland (9 points),
Odett Schlegl (8 points, 4 rebounds), and
Eviyon Richardson (7 points, 7 rebounds).
The Lady Bearcats will be back in action at home on Thursday, February 20th as they play host to Missouri S&T at 5:30 PM in the Meyer Wellness Center.
