Claremore, OK - The SBU baseball team continued their early season play with a double header against the Hillcats of Rogers State University. They dropped both games, bringing their overall record to 3-3.
Game 1: L, 1-11
Jaden Thacker started on the mound for the Bearcats and pitched into the third inning, finishing with 2 strikeouts and 5 earned runs as the Hillcats got off to a hot start in the first.
Roberto Garcia came on for relief and finished with 3 strikeouts in just over two innings of work. Other pitchers who saw some action for SBU include
Jake Fuller,
Caden Norman, and
Colin Whited. At the plate, the Bearcats scored their run on a fielder's choice by
Lane Snow that brought in Junior
Raydley Legito. Legito went 2-4 at the plate for the game, and Graduates
Dominic Tellez and
Tre Mungin each finished with a hit.
Game 2: L, 1-5
In Game 2, SBU kept things close for the majority of the game behind a strong 7 strikeout, 4.2 inning outing on the mound from Sophomore

Ethan Clark added 3 strikeouts in relief for the Bearcats. Offensively, SBU again scored in the top of the first when
Raydley Legito crossed the plate on a ground ball off the bat of Redshirt Freshman
Reese Ruderman. Legito added two more hits on the day, joining both
Lane Snow and
Hayden Prewitt in the hit column for Game 2.
SBU will return to the diamond on Friday, February 21st as they host Purdue University Northwest at 5:00 pm at Dodson Field.
