Bolivar, MO - The SBU Women's Basketball team fell to the Upper Iowa University Peacocks 63-64, in a tightly contested battle that went down to the wire. This moves them to 7-12 (5-8 GLVC) on the season.
The Lady Bearcats played a solid game throughout, outscoring the Peacocks in three of the four quarters. The third quarter, however, featured a 6-7 (85%) 3-point shooting performance from Upper Iowa that paced them to a 24-point quarter. Yet, SBU maintained their defensive fortitude in the 4th that brought the game to a nail-biting finish. Ultimately, a late turnover prevented the Bearcats from securing a chance for the win at the buzzer.
Graduate
Amber Storr steadied SBU offensively as she finished with 21, securing her third 20+ point game of the season. Seniors
LJ Boyland (13 points) and
Tori Hamilton (10 points) also provided consistent offensive output for the Bearcats. The bench added a spark as well, outpacing the Peacock bench 28-18.
SBU will be on the road next week with some more GLVC action, first against the Cardinals of William Jewell College on Thursday, February 6th at 5:30pm.
