Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU men's basketball team ended their Fall semester Saturday afternoon against Williams Baptist College in the Meyer Center. Bearcats handled their business easily defeating the eagles 97-68 for their 4
th straight win. That sends them into Christmas break with an 8-4 record.
The Bearcats got out to an early lead until the Eagles bounced back to take their one and only lead of the game at the 10-minute mark. Soon after SBU went on a 14-2 run gaining the lead they would have the rest of the game. Late 1
st half threes by
Barron Silsby and
Lachie McKain gave them 14-point lead at half. Early 2
nd half strong defense quickly led to offense expanding the lead to 20, which would never drop from below there.
A career high game from freshman
Leo Gayman who not only led the team in 18 points but recorded 10 rebounds for a first career double-double. Tying him in points was
Zac Reedus with a team high eight free throws made. Reedus recorded his second double-double of the season with 11 rebounds.
Four other Bearcats scored in double figures with Silsby and McKain each notching 17 points. They combined for eight total three's in the game. Junior
Jevin Sullivan scored 13 total points along with four rebounds and four assists. Senior
Luke Ogle had an incredibly efficient night with 10 points on 80% shooting and was only two assists and four rebounds away from a triple-double.
The Bearcats will now take a a week off for Christmas break before returning to campus for practices. Another week after that they'll compete in GLVC action against starting on Sunday, January 4
th at Rockhurst University. That game will take place at 3:00 p.m. in Kansas City, Missouri.
