Kansas City, Mo. - The SBU women's volleyball team concluded their road trip Saturday afternoon against Rockhurst University. The Bearcats fell in the match 0-3, moving to 4-11 (1-3 GLVC) on the season.
In set one the Bearcats got off to an early lead and maintained it throughout a majority of the match. After the game got knotted up at 15, SBU went on a 6-2 run for a 21-17 lead. That did not hold as the Hawks went on an 8-0 run to finish the game. The momentum from the end of set one carried through the next two, as the Hawks finished with the sweep.
The Bearcat block was a shining spotlight throughout the game as they recorded a total of 10 blocks, with six in the first set. Numerous different Bearcats contributed in these blocks with
Rory Stanley,
Aubrie Fellmeth, and
Gabriela Dupree each having four assisted blocks.
Stanley had a strong offensive game going for a hitting percentage of .667 with four total kills and zero attack errors. Junior
Hannah Jackson tagged on seven kills with five of those coming in the first set. Freshman
Gabriela Dupree led the team in kills once again with 13, recording her 200th on the season.
The team will return to action later this week as they host the cat fight. Drury University will travel to the Meyer Sports Center on Thursday, October 9th at 7:00pm.
