Bolivar, Mo. – The Southwest Baptist University women's volleyball team put together a strong showing at home Friday night but came up short against University of Illinois Springfield, falling in four competitive sets inside John Q. Hammons Court at the Meyer Wellness Center.
After dropping the first two sets, the Bearcats fought back with energy in the third, taking control early and holding on to a must win set. The fourth set stayed tight until UIS put together an 11–0 run late to close out the match, 25–19.
Senior
Katie Pogue led the Bearcats with a season-high 11 kills and 14 assists, recording her first kills/assists double-double of the year. Freshman
Allie Hawk ran the offense with 20 assists with one serving ace and six digs.
Gabriela Dupree posted a strong all-around effort with 10 kills and a team-high 19 digs, while
Rory Stanley added 9 kills and 2.5 total blocks.
Julia Marinesi contributed 11 digs, and
Chloe Chafins added 9 digs and two service aces to round out the Bearcats' top performers.
The Bearcats return to action Saturday, October 25, continuing their home stand on John Q. Hammons Court inside the Meyer Wellness Center in Bolivar, Mo.
