Kirksville, Mo. - The Southwest Baptist Men's Soccer team picked up a dominant win on the road versus the Truman State Bulldogs. The Bearcats fought for a 3-0 win Friday night as one of the biggest road conference victories in program history. This win improves their record to 5-7-2 (2-6-2 GLVC).
 
The Bearcats opened this game aggressively on both ends. In the first 22 minutes of play despite the score knotted at zero, SBU led the shot count 8-1. Moments later Victor Valero found the back of the net to give the Bearcats a goal, his second score of the season off an assist from Fisher Hudak. Seconds later Valero finds Zinedine Cherik for his 2nd goal in the past two matches extending the lead and momentum for the Bearcats. SBU finished the first half of play with 15 shots to Truman's two. 
 
The second half was all about the defense. Truman began to get opportunities on goal, all three in the half saved by goalie Jan-Henry Schafer to deliver the second shutout of the season by the Bearcats. Derrick Londono put the game out of reach with his first goal of the year, extending the lead to three.

This win gives the Bearcats their second GLVC win of the season, the most since the 2020-21 season. They now have eight points toward the standings sitting them in 12th. With three of the bottom eight teams in the GLVC standings left on the schedule, this win gives them a chance towards the conference tournament. 
 
The Bearcats will look to get their second win straight this Sunday, in Liberty, Mo as they take on William Jewell. Kick off is scheduled to begin at 2:30pm.
