Bolivar, Mo. - The Lady Bearcats won their third straight game as they defeated the Bearcats of McKendree University by a score of 75-65. SBU is now 7-8 (5-4 GLVC) on the season.
In a game that featured 12 lead changes, the SBU Bearcats relied on their focus defensively, scoring points off turnovers (27), forcing McKendree to a season high 22 turnovers. They also entered the game as one of the top shooting teams in the Nation, at over 47% but held them to 39.7% from the field. Offensively, SBU had one of their best shooting games of the year at 48.3%.
Senior
Bianca Oliver set the tone for the Bearcats as she scored a career high 15 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Senior
LJ Boyland secured her 6th game scoring in double figures finishing with 11 points and Graduate
Amber Storr added 14 points. On the defensive end, both
Kristin Edmonds and
Jayde Williams put on the pressure as they each had 3 steals.
The SBU Women's Basketball team will look to take this momentum on the road next week as they travel to Romeoville, Ill. to battle another top conference opponent in the Lewis University Flyers. This game will be on Thursday, January 23rd at 5:30 pm.
