Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU women's volleyball team began conference play Friday evening as they hosted the Lewis Flyers. The Bearcats fell to the Flyers in a hard-fought match in the 5
th set 15-17. That moves them to 5-7 (0-1 GLVC) on the season.
The Bearcats ran after the Flyers in set one of the game winning 25-22, behind five kills from senior Sydney McNeil. The next two sets did not favor SBU as they fell 1-2 before heading into the 4
th set. Southwest Baptist trailed 5-11 early in the set but a flurry of kills from junior
Ella Rademaker pushed the Bearcats to a 25-22 win.
Rademaker led the team in kills with a season-high 22 while swinging with a .259 hitting percentage. She also extends her double-digit hitting streak to 10 straight games. Freshman
Mya Leach had a night of career highs recording nine kills, 22 digs, and three blocking assists.
Kynzie Lilly also had a career high in digs with 27 total and was near a career high in assists with seven.
Southwest Baptist will return to action Saturday afternoon as they host the Greyhounds of University of Indianapolis in another GLVC matchup. The game is scheduled for 3pm in the Meyer Wellness Center.
