Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU women's volleyball team continued their season Saturday afternoon as they hosted Fort Hays State and Ouachita Baptist. The Bearcats fought valiantly in both games but fell in both moving to 6-6 on the season.
In game one, the Bearcats took on the 8-1 Fort Hays scoring more points than the Tigers but falling in the 5
th set. SBU came out strong in the 1
st set winning 25-9 hitting for a .448 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Hannah Jackson had a career high game recording 22 kills throughout the match, six of those came in the first nine points of the game. Her career high game was just slightly higher than junior
Ella Rademaker's season high 20 kills. Most of the assists came from junior
Katie Pogue who recorded 35 assists to go along with her 11 digs.
SBU finished their hosted tournament battling Ouachita Baptist Tigers falling in the fourth set 1-3. Jackson and Rademaker continued to lead the team in kills with 14 & 12 respectively. Fellow teammates
Sydney McNeill and
Chandler Lawrence each had six kills. Junior Pogue also had a strong game for the Bearcats recording another double-double with 17 assists, 18 digs, and five kills.
The Bearcats will compete in one more non-conference game before beginning conference play next weekend. Tuesday September 24
th SBU will travel to Wichita, Kansas to take on Newman University with a scheduled start time of 4:00pm.
