Men’s Soccer Holds UMSL to a Tie in Hard-Fought Conference Match

Bolivar, Mo - The SBU Men's soccer team continued in conference action this Friday afternoon, facing the University of Missouri-St. Louis at home. The match ended in a tie, putting the Bearcats at 2-1-3 on the season and 1-0-1 in conference.

The Bearcats remain undefeated in conference action to start the season earning their fourth point towards the standings. Being the only team to not allow a goal in GLVC play so far they currently sit in 2nd place only behind the Nationally ranked Bearcats of McKendree.

SBU's main scoring opportunities occurred in the second half, with shots on goal by Junior Giovanni Cascone and Senior Alex Marealle. Junior Goalkeeper Marco Iñiguez recorded a season high 4 saves on the Tritons, making this his second straight shutout being the first Bearcat to do so in the last 12 years.

The Bearcats will return to action on Sunday, September 22th as they host Lincoln University of Missouri. The game will take place in Bolivar, Missouri at SBU Soccer Field with a kickoff scheduled for 2:30 pm.
