Bearcats Surge Past Lions and Bulldogs in Day One of SBU Invite

Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU women's volleyball team continued their season Friday evening as they hosted the SBU volleyball classic. They showed out for their home crowd winning both games on the day moving to 6-4 on the season.

In game one, the Bearcats took on GLVC opponent Truman State in a non-conference matchup. SBU won the game in a thrilling five-set battle winning 15-12 in the final set. The team was led by junior Ella Rademaker who had 18 total kills in the game including six in the second set alone. Another top attacker for the Bearcats was sophomore transfer Hannah Jackson who added 15 kills to her already impressive SBU career. Bearcat liber Kynzie Lilly added some crucial digs to the Bearcat victory with 21 total along with her 2 aces.

With game two starting nearly three hours past the scheduled game time, the Bearcats got off to a slow start against former MIAA foe Missouri Southern. The set one loss had no impact on Southwest Baptist as their momentum continued to swell along with their bench excitement in the late hours of the night. Downing the Lions in just four sets, they were led again by Rademaker (14 kills) and Jackson (13) off the teams total 47 kills.

The Bearcats will get a short rest as they return to action nearly 12 hours after their last match concluded. Saturday action for SBU will include an 11:45am match against Fort Hays State in the Meyer Wellness Center to be followed by a 4:15 game time against Ouachita Baptist.
