Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU baseball team continued their series against rival Drury University Friday evening at Dodson Field. The Bearcats split the day against the Panthers taking a 2-1 lead in the series while moving to 13-36 (10-25 GLVC) on the season.
After a difficult game one, the Bearcats bounced back in game two claiming a 5-1 win.
Jaden Thacker threw another ace recording his 4
th win of the season moving to 4-3. He threw a complete game allowing only three hits and one run. Thacker is the Bearcats first starting pitcher to finish with a winning record since 2021.
It only took the Bearcats two innings to get on the board as they scored three runs in the bottom of the 2
nd. Senior
Sal Jacobo knocked two of those runs in with a double. He was one of four Bearcats to record a double in the game, joined along with
Dominic Tellez,
Colby Sneed, and
Conner Hammonds. Hammonds along with
Tre Mungin, and
Dean Hagenhoff each recorded one RBI on the game.
SBU baseball will conclude their season Saturday afternoon in the final game of the series against Drury University. They will look to win the series as they honor their six seniors on Senior day. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00pm with senior day recognition scheduled just before.
