Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU Baseball team were back in action for their last game of the season, as they looked to take the series against Hwy 13 rivals, the Drury Panthers. The Bearcats took the game and the series, winning 2-1 to finish their season with a 14-36 (11-25 GLVC) record.
Starting on the mound for the last time was Jake Schrock, as he held the Panthers scoreless through the first 4 innings with a season high in strikeouts with 4. The Bearcats took the lead in the 3rd after Raydley Legito hit his second homerun of the season to make it 1-0. The Panthers would respond back in the 6th as they tied the game 1-1. The score remained the same until the bottom of the 9th when Connor Hammonds stepped up to the plate and hit a walk-off home run to secure the SBU win.
The Bearcats finished the series against the rival Panthers, winning 3 out of the 4 games, the first series win against them since 2021. They also honored six seniors before the game including Colby Sneed, Tre Mungin, Dean Hagenhoff, Jake Schrock, Sal Jacobo, and Kayden Lewis.
