Hagenhoff's 4 RBI's Slide Bearcats Past Panthers

Springfield, Mo. – The SBU baseball team took on their rival Drury University in a home competition at the Panther home stadium. The Bearcats battled the road conditions and came home with a big win 6-4. Their first win over Drury in three years moves them to 12-35 (9-24 GLVC) on the season.

It was a pitchers battle to start as each starter allowed one run a piece through the first five innings. The game opened up in the 6th as the Panthers scored their final three runs of the game to take a 4-1 lead. In the next half inning, Dean Hagenhoff chipped into the lead with a solo home run to left center field. It was that same bat that gave the Bearcats the lead in the bottom of the 7th, as Hagenhoff rocketed a double off the left center wall for 3 RBI's.

A Colby Sneed solo home run in the bottom of the 8th, added to the Bearcats lead before Sam Peterson came in for the save going three up and three down. Eli Smock was able to earn his second win of the season throwing over a 100 pitches for seven strikeouts.

The Bearcats will return to Bolivar Friday afternoon for a doubleheader against the Panthers. The games are scheduled to begin at 3:00pm at Dodson Field.
