Springfield, Ill. - The SBU softball team continued in GLVC play Saturday afternoon after a week-long break. The Bearcats fall in their double header against the University of Illinois-Springfield, moving to 14-24 on the season and 3-11 in conference.
In game one, the Bearcats shut out the Prairie Stars for the first four innings. SBU put a run on the board in the sixth, with
Audrey Rahlmann batting in
Karlee Kinder.
Maddie Romines recorded a season-high two hits, leading the Bearcats on the stat sheet. However, the Bearcats fell after seven, ending with a score of 1-3.
Paige Leithead was on the mound for SBU in game two, now 5-6 on the season. The Bearcats got ahead early, with
Emma Vincent recording two hits and one run - including a double in the top of the fourth. Despite their initial lead, the Prairie Stars came back to score five in the sixth, ending the game with a score of 3-5.
Southwest Baptist will return to action Sunday at Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois. First pitch will happen at 12:00 PM at the Mart Heinen Softball Complex.
