St. Louis, MO – The SBU women's tennis took on the Tritons of Missouri-St. Louis in a non-conference matchup Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats defeated the Tritons 5-2, moving them to 4-11 on the season.
The Bearcats in doubles action secured the first team point of the match with
Ghada Dirninger and
Elsa Pascual winning at the #1 spot 7-5. While
Polina Paunova and
Leticia Luiz won at the #3 spot 7-5.
Paula Ballesteros bounced back in singles match dominating her opponent in the #1 spot 7-6 and 6-3. Pascual had a slow start to her match falling in the 1
st set 4-6 but would come back to win the #3 spot in the second and third set (6-3, 6-2) giving SBU their third point of the match. Luiz at the #5 spot controlled her opponent winning in two sets. In the #6 spot of Giselle Garica won in the second and third set giving the Bearcats their 5th point of the match.
Southwest Baptist will return home to John A. Bryant Tennis Center next Friday as they open conference play against William Jewell College. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00pm.
