Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU Women's Tennis team hosted the William Jewell Cardinals Friday afternoon for their first GLVC matchup of the season. The Bearcats dominated the Cardinals, beating them 6-1 to kick off conference and make them 5-11 (1-0 GLVC) on the season. 

The Bearcats secured their first team point of the match with Paula Ballesteros and Giselle Garcia winning in the #1 spot 6-2 and 6-2. Ghada Dirninger and Elsa Pascual also won their doubles match 6-1 and 6-1 in the #2 spot. 

SBU continued to dominate in singles as Paula Ballesteros, in the #1 spot, and Ghada Dirninger, in the #2 spot, both beat their opponents 6-2. Polina Paunova, competing in the #3 spot, started off slow, dropping her first match before bouncing back to win 6-1 to force a third match which she'd win 6-3. Leticia Luiz and Giselle Garcia would also win their matches to help secure the first conference win of the season. 

Southwest Baptist will return to action Saturday as they host the Rockhurst University Hawks in conference play. The match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM.
