Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU softball team continued wrapped up their 2024 home season Sunday afternoon as they hosted the Rockhurst Hawks. The Bearcats split the doubleheader falling in the first game but winning the second game moving to 19-27 (8-14 GLVC) on the season.
In game one, the Bearcats struggled to get the bats rolling as they recorded six hits on the game but were unable to knock a run across the plate.
Angelina Micone and
Maddie Romines led the team with two hits apiece.
Freshman Micone added two more hits in game two of the day bringing her batting average to .437 on the season. Her efforts helped the Bearcats run rule the Hawks 9-1 giving pitcher
Paige Leithead her 9
th win of the season and fourth win in a row. She pitched all six innings throwing for five strikeouts and only allowing one run.
Margo Frossard led the team in hits with three on the game recording one RBI.
Audrey Rahlmann led the team in RBI's after a game winning three run blast in the bottom of the 6
th.
Southwest Baptist will continue their season on Saturday April 27
th as they travel to Lebanon, Illinois. They will take on the McKendree University Bearcats in a doubleheader matchup beginning at 12:00pm.
