Liberty, Mo. – The SBU Baseball team was back in action today as they continued their series against the William Jewell Cardinals. The Bearcats split the day losing the first game but winning the second game in incredible fashion 2-0 to make them 9-20 (6-9 GLVC) on the season.
After their loss in the first game, the Bearcats took the field in their second game looking to bounce back. Fortunately for the Bearcats, Jaden Thacker had the best pitching game of the year for the Bearcats, as he threw the first SBU shutout since 2021. He pitched for all 7 innings in the Bearcats win, with a shutout heading into the 7th but only allowed one hit. With Thacker's stellar performance keeping the Cardinals at bay, Tre Mungin would take advantage as he hit his 4th homerun of the season for 2 RBIs to secure the Bearcat win.
Southwest Baptist will look to tie the series tomorrow as they finish their series against the Cardinals. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM at Talley Stadium.
