Indianapolis, Ind. - The SBU Baseball team was back in action today as they continued their series against the Indianapolis Greyhounds in a doubleheader. The Bearcats dropped game 1, 2-9 and fought back for a tough 10-12 loss in game 2 to make them 8-17 (5-6 GLVC) on the season.
In game 1, Jake Fuller started on the mound for the Bearcats as he pitched for 5.1 innings before being relieved by Conner Hammonds. The Bearcats struck first again as Dean Hagenhoff hit a triple down the right field line to allow Sal Jacobo to score for SBU. In the top of the 3rd, Zeke Skinner extended the lead after hitting a double to bring Tre Mungin home.
In game 2, it would be the Greyhounds who got on the scoreboard first before Joe Brown came in, for the first time this season. Brown had himself a game as he led the Bearcat defense, pitching for 5.1 innings with 5 strikeouts for an impressive 2.63 ERA. This helped shift the momentum as the Bearcats kicked off their comeback run in the 4th as they scored 7 runs to make it 7-12. The Bearcats carried their momentum into the next inning as 3 more Bearcats scored to make it 10-12. Although the Bearcats continued to fight back, it would not be enough as the Greyhounds escaped with the second win of the day.
Southwest Baptist will look to carry their momentum and steal a win from the Greyhounds as they finish their series tomorrow. The first pitch is scheduled for 11:00 (CST) AM at Bill Bright Field.
