Indianapolis, Ind. – The SBU Baseball team are on the road this weekend as they made the long road trip to Indiana to face the Indianapolis Greyhounds. The Bearcats fell to the Greyhounds, 3-6 Friday afternoon, to make them 8-15 (5-4 GLVC) on the season.
Starting on the mound for the Bearcats was Eli Smock, who pitched for 4.0 innings with two strikeouts before being relieved by Roberto Garcia. Colin Whited and Cody Gibson would also take the mound for the Bearcats, only allowing 1 hit each.
The Bearcats struck first for the early lead at the top of the 2nd inning as Raydley Legito and Sal Jacobo both recorded an RBI each to put the Bearcats up 2-0. Although the Greyhounds scored in the 3rd, the Bearcats responded back as Zeke Skinner hit a ground ball to allow Jacobo to score for a 3-1 lead. SBU held the lead for a few more innings, but it would not be enough as the Greyhounds came back to take the first game of the series.
Southwest Baptist will be back in action tomorrow as they continue their series against the Greyhounds in a doubleheader. The first pitch is scheduled for 11:00 (CST) at Bill Bright Field.
