Bolivar, MO – The SBU Baseball team was back in action today as they continued their series against the Parkside Rangers. The Bearcats won both games today to win the series and make them 3-11 on the season.
In game 1, five Bearcats would take the mound as Jake Fuller started on the mound while Sal Jacobo finished on the mound as he pitched for the last two innings. The Bearcats started off hot after Tre Mungin hit a home run to left field to kick things off as they were up 6-0 in the first inning. The Rangers would not go down without a fight as they took a 14-10 lead going into the 5th. The Bearcats went on a 5-0 run with Dean Hagenhoff hitting a double to left field allowing Mason Eagleburger to run home to put the Bearcats on top 15-14 and giving them their first win of the series. Jacobo recorded his first win of the season and Raydley Legito led all Bearcats with 4 RBI's on the game.
In game 2, Khalil V'azquez Torres started on the mound for the Bearcats as he pitched for 5.2 innings for 5 strikeouts. Roberto Garcia would come in after Torres pitched the last few innings for 3 strikeouts. The Bearcats got on the scoreboard in the 3rd inning, and after that, they found their rhythm as they dominated the Rangers, putting up 9 unanswered runs after the 6th inning. Jacobo continued his dominating day as he hit a home run and led the team in RBI's with 4.
Southwest Baptist will look to carry their momentum as they host the Lewis University Flyers for their first conference series of the season. The first pitch is set for Friday, March 8th, at 5:00 PM at Dodson Field.
