Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU softball team had a full weekend of games on their home turf, as they opened conference play with double headers on both Saturday and Sunday. This proved to be some of their toughest back-to-back matchups, facing the top two standing teams in the GLVC. The Bearcats were unable to come away with any victories as they moved to 11-15 (0-4 GLVC) on the season.

On Saturday, the Bearcats took on the University of Indianapolis, ranked 7th in the nation. SBU's record moved to 11-13 as the Bearcats fall short to the Greyhounds in both games. In game one,
Paige Leithead pitched all six innings for the Bearcats, recording three strikeouts.
Angelina Micone led the team with two hits against the one of the best pitchers in the Nation. Overall, the team finished with a score of 0-8 against the Greyhounds.
Emma Kreisel took the mound for SBU in game two, only allowing three hits in the seven inning game. Three different Bearcats recorded doubles in the game including
Margo Frossard,
Audrey Rahlmann, and
Taylor Howard. Despite their efforts, the Bearcats fell 0-4, making this the 23rd win of the Greyhound's season.

Sunday was another hard day for SBU as they faced Lewis University, who came into the game 16-5. The Bearcats recorded two runs on the day, both scored by
Margo Frossard in game two. She homered in the first inning to start the Bearcats off strong, but resulted in a 2-10 loss. Additionally, SBU fell 0-8 in game one, ending the weekend with their record pushed to 11-15.Â

Southwest Baptist will return to action this Tuesday at Home in Bolivar, Missouri. They will take a quick break from conference play as they host University of Wisconsin Parkside. First pitch will happen at 3:00 PM at the SBU Softball Field.
