Women's Tennis Falls to Lopers at Home

Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU women's tennis team returned to action Friday afternoon as they hosted the #18 team in the Nation, Nebraska Kearney. The Bearcats fell to their former MIAA foe by a final score of 3-4, moving them to 2-7 on the season.
 
Sophomore Paula Ballesteros continued to show why she is one of the top single players in the country by defeating her opponent in two sets. At the #1 spot, the 59th ranked Ballesteros beat her 29th ranked Fabiana Gamboa 6-3 & 7-6, claiming the first point for SBU.
 
After the match was clinched by the Lopers, the Bearcats #5 and #6 spot each won their match giving SBU two more points. Leticia Luiz won her match in three sets at the #5 spot, winning the last two 6-3. The #6 spot was a grind for Giselle Garcia as she took the first set, then battled for a third set win 17-15.
 
Southwest Baptist will return to action next Thursday, as they travel to St. Joseph Missouri to take on Missouri Western University.
