Warrensburg, Mo. - The SBU softball team hit the road Tuesday evening to take on the University of Central Missouri in a double header. Although the Bearcats didn't get the start on the day that they wanted, they came back to beat the Jennies in game two, putting them at 11-11 on the season.
In game one,
Margo Frossard started the Bearcats off strong with a home run in the top of the first. She led the team in both runs (2) and RBIs (2). The game remained neck and neck, but SBU fell short in the 7th inning, ending with a score of 4-5. Emma Kriesel pitched 5 strikeouts and walked away at 5-2 on the season.
In game two,
Paige Leithead stepped onto the mound and wrapped the game up in 5 innings, after the game was called from a three hour rain delay. All the runs for both teams were put up in the 3rd, featuring a triple by
Angelina Micone, scoring both Frossard and
Maddie Romines. The Bearcats hit the road with a 2-1 win against the Jennies, defeating them for the first time since 2018.Â
Southwest Baptist will return to action this Saturday at Home in Bolivar, Missouri. They will take on the #7 ranked University of Indianapolis Greyhounds in their conference opener. First pitch will happen at 12:00 PM at the SBU Softball Field.
