Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU Baseball team were back in action today as they finished their first conference series against the Lewis Flyers. The Bearcats dropped both games today 6-9 and 7-23 to make them 5-13 (2-2 GLVC) on the season. 

In game 1, Jaden Thacker started on the mound as he pitched for an impressive 5.2 innings and only allowed 6 hits. SBU was off to a slow start again until the 3rd inning when Zeke Skinner hit a bomb to left field for 3 RBIs to put the Bearcats in the lead 3-2. The Bearcats scored again in the 5th inning after Raydley Legito had 2 RBIs and Sterling Jackson had 1 RBI to put them up 6-2. Unfortunately, the Flyers would make late comeback run to take the first game of the day. 

In game 2, Khalil V'azquez Torres would start on the mound for the Bearcats followed by Sam Peterson, Conner Hammonds, and Jake Schrock. Xie Ferguson and Dominic Tellez both recorded 2 RBIs each while Tre Mungin recorded 1 RBI in the 5th inning to put the Bearcats on the scoreboard. In the 7th inning, Colby Sneed recorded his first home run of the season with 2 RBIs, but it would not be enough as they would fall to the Flyers. 

Southwest Baptist will look to bounce back next week as they host the Truman State Bulldogs. The first pitch is scheduled for Friday, March 15th, at 5:00 PM at Dodson Field.
